The I.D.E.S. OF MARCH MARCH MARCH 2, 2024 @ 12:00 noon Coolidge Park 150 River Street Chattanooga TN 37405

Updated: Jan 11

Meet Athena the goddess of good counsel, prudent restraint, and practical insight, as well as of war. She was essentially urban, civilized, and didn't take any S@*T.

This March, we bring back the long Roman tradition of acknowledging that with the first full moon of the year, comes a time of settling debts and celebrating a renewed spirit for battle.

The IDES of March is a call to awaken from the winter fatigue and remind ourselves and others of the countless contributions women have made and continue to make for our world across the world.

In the spirit of a new awakening, we embrace the

I.D.E.S of March.

INCLUSIVITY: The practice and policy of providing access to opportunities and resources for people who might otherwise be excluded or marginalized. Using actions to actively include and value individuals whose perspective can help all of us make a world that better supports those with physical or mental disabilities or share viewpoints from minority groups can help everyone as a whole live a softer and more comfortable life.

DIVERSITY: the practice or quality of including or involving people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders, and sexual orientations.

EQUALITY: the state of being equal in status, rights, and opportunities.

SUFFRAGE: The right AND the ability to vote. The vote given in assent to a proposal or in favor of the election of a particular person.

In Shakespeare’s play, Julius Caesar, the soothsayer warned Julius “Beware the IDES of March”, which he ignored. As the story unfolds so does Rome.

One has said as with Friday the 13th Luck is in the Eye of the Beholder as is Beauty.

We are lucky to have so many brave women come before us, and beauty takes many forms. Join us in celebrating the beauty of the acts and deeds of the fearless, bold, and wise women who fought for inclusivity, diversity, equality, and suffrage.

If you're of a fearful folk then be mindful and beware that women are numerous and sisterhood is a strong potion, sure to overcome our oppressors in this Primary election.

It is time to stop cycling through the same historically failed policies and forge a new world where we can create lives that have NEVER existed before. Not by preventing women from controlling their bodily autonomy but by empowering women to choose when and how they will create life.

Dress in the theme of a woman you admire or one that has inspired you. Make a poster of a woman who inspires you with her photo, name, and accomplishments. Hold a vote sign. Be creative and have fun celebrating doers, dreamers, movers, and shakers!
