Facts Over Feelings

"Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence." -- John Adams

The funny thing about facts, they are stubborn. No matter how much one wishes or wants something to fit into their tidy version of how the world should be, facts don't care. Life is messy sometimes, and things are often gray, not black and white, except for facts.

Before the overturning of Roe vs. Wade and bans on abortion, 52% of victims of assault were clinically depressed, 50% of those attempted suicide, and 26% of those were successful.

  • Homicide is one of the leading causes of death among pregnant and postpartum individuals in the United States.

The list goes on and on.

In an ideal world, abortions would never be necessary. All pregnancies would progress perfectly, and women would have the healthcare coverage they deserve - in this perfect world. Women would always have committed partners and support systems helping them keep their families intact and healthy. Not every girl or woman has this kind of reality. Women deserve better, and so do the children they bring into the world! Until this perfect world is in place, women must be trusted to make complex healthcare decisions for themselves.
